Saraswati Puja , being the first program of 50th anniversary of Bengali Association Singapore generated lot of enthusiasm.

The swaraswati pratima at Khalsa
The puja was held in a befitting manner at Khalsa Association with Pushpanjali, mostly by our student members and parents and “Aaroti” . We also saw very enthusiastic kids keen to make their first handwriting  or “Hathekhari”  in front of Devi Saraswati.

The major attraction of the event was the cultural program  in the evening . Devi Saraswati , being the goddess of  Education  and Culture , always inspires young children .  The evening event was primarily designed for participation by  our young student members .  A total of 40 participants  presented the  musical evening of which 27 were youngsters.

The program started with indigenously composed music on “Saraswati Bandana ” – An harmonious composition of ragas and hymns . It immediately lifted the mood with splendid co-ordination of Sitar , Tabla and Vocals. It was followed by a variety of individual and group performances on songs , dance and recitations  where our young

children demonstrated their mastery . Nicely choreographed popular modern songs and Nazrul Geeti , colorful costumes and the performers energetic presentations drew huge applause from capacity audience.

The 2nd  part of the program “ Anandadhara ” was a sequence of group dance combined with  Tagore Songs presented live by our eminent singers . This elegantly choreographed event was based on the theme of  Love , Joy and Devotion to Almighty .  True to the spirit  , all the songs and dances were presented with perfect co-ordination and expressions . The program ended with the prayer song “ Aloker Ei JharnaDharai ”.

The cultural evening brought out  quite a few young  talents . It also exhibited spirit of education in true sense as the young participants had to learn quickly from their experienced “teachers” in a very limited time.  The opening hymn “ Saraswati Bandana” was  composed and directed by Dr Amitava Das , music and songs were directed by Mr. Nikhilesh Gupta, Choreography  by  Ms Madhurima Sen , Ms Srabonti Dutta and Ms Ritwika Gupta . The event was compeered by  Ms.  Sohini Das  and  Mr. Arindam Chowdhury.
